Meet the Team

Christine Pearce - Midwife Doula
Picture
I joined Cheryl's Gentle Births in 2011 as a Midwife Doula, also teaching our active Birth Antenatal Classes.  I am passionate about natural birth and have myself had two home births. For a long time, my son held the record for being that largest baby delivered in Cheryl's Gentle Births at 5.3kg! This record has been broken since then, yes really!!

Suzanne Martin - Nurse Doula

I joined Cheryl's Team 2010 initially to train as a Doula, with my nursing background, and my belief in natural birth, Cheryl felt I could be a useful addition to her team, supporting her labouring moms.

I have subsequently done work with Cheryl when needed and at the moment provide doula services on a regular basis.  It is such an honour to work within a team of like minded women providing really quality care for our clients.

I trained and worked as a Nursing Sister in the UK from 1997 until 2005,
I have personally experienced two very different natural births of my own, and one caesarean, and realised there was a huge need for women to be supported during labour and birth by experienced  birth attendants.

I felt the warmth and love of those who were present at my son’s birth in 2009, I chose my team and they were incredible. I felt completely safe, uninhibited and effectively gave birth without difficulty or pain relief, at home. I would attribute the ability to do that to various things, one being a belief in yourself, but also the incredible support of those around me.

Continuous support in labour increased the chance of a spontaneous vaginal birth, had no harm, and women were more satisfied.”
